Energy techFounder & CEO9 months

Daily reach grew from about 34 to 1,316 impressions in nine months, with 4,207 new followers.

I helped the founder and CEO of an energy flexibility company explain how energy markets actually work. He had real technical depth but almost no reach. In nine months we published 93 posts, his daily reach grew by 3,774% and his follower count nearly quadrupled.

The development

Before vs. with mixo.

The starting point

Real substance, almost no reach

His company turns distributed industrial assets like batteries, solar fields, heat pumps and cogeneration plants into flexibility that can be traded on energy markets. In the 41 days before we started he got 1,393 impressions, about 34 a day. He had roughly 1,428 followers. He had the substance but no repeatable way to turn it into posts people could follow.

Goals

What we set out to do.

Be the voice on how the market works

Position him as the person who explains how flexibility markets actually work, with real market data and a clear point of view.

Build the right audience

Grow an audience of utilities, renewables manufacturers and asset owners. These are the buyers his company needs to reach.

A steady rhythm

Move from random posting to about 10 posts a month in his own language, with personal founder moments mixed in.

My approach

How I approached it.

01

Explain the market, don't sell

The obvious angle was "we sell flexibility." The better one was "here is how the market works and why flexibility is the missing piece."

02

Weekly calls plus news

Weekly calls captured his raw takes on grid economics, pricing and how deals work. I paired them with fast reactions to market news so he had the sharpest take in the feed.

03

Three types of posts

Big-picture energy analysis drove reach. Deal announcements built trust with buyers and founder and team posts, like the team growing from 6 to 38 people, added the human side.

04

Lift the median post

Every week I checked where his median post landed against accounts of a similar size. The goal was for every post to pull its weight, not one viral hit.

A lesson from tech history

A post comparing a technology a famous phone maker abandoned to what is now reshaping the grid. It brought his view to a cold audience.

Showing the unit economics

An open breakdown of guaranteed yearly revenue per megawatt for asset owners. His most engaging post.

What made it work

The short version.

  • Technical depth became the selling point once every post explained something useful.
  • Each type of post had a clear job, so the mix worked as a whole.
  • Follower growth was positive in every single month. 42% of the audience ended up at director level or above.
